Each item is unique and was crafted with enthusiasm by community volunteers, and students and apprentices in AWAH’s HeARTworks workforce development program.

Shop & Bop will celebrate the 2025 summer HeARTworks students – youth, ages 14 to 24, who have created marketable art to sell in HeARTwares®. Overall, HeARTworks provides a collaborative space for youth to experience a structured work environment while building job readiness and life skills.

To celebrate the 15th anniversary of HeARTworks, AWAH also will host an online auction leading up to Shop & Bop, from Aug. 1 to Aug. 14. Items include two Paul Reed Smith guitars, a private tour of the Latin American Art Exhibit at the Walters Art Gallery by curator Ellen Hoob; private tour, tasting and lunch at Old Westminster Winery; pottery class at The Clayground in Ellicott City, and more!

2025 Graduate Exhibition | Opening Reception
Friday, August 15 :: 5-8pm
@ Baltimore Jewelry Center

The Baltimore Jewelry Center is excited to host its second annual Graduate Exhibition, a group show featuring 12 emerging jewelers and metalsmiths who have recently completed their formal education. Highlighting the depth and breadth of what is currently being created in the field, the Baltimore Jewelry Center Graduate Exhibition will be on view in the BJC’s gallery in Baltimore’s Station North Arts & Entertainment District (10 E. North Ave.) from August 15 until September 26, 2025 with an opening reception on Friday, August 15th from 5 to 8pm. The event is free and open to the public.

The work in this year’s exhibitions spans a broad range of materials and practices, with works that represent multiple styles and explore metalsmithing through different methods of abstraction. Sculptural pieces, reimagined objects, and multiple types of vessels contribute to a dynamic and multifaceted show. The artists, selected by the BJC’s 10-person exhibitions committee, represent both national and international programs. Participating artists include Cameron Howe, Cecelia Plympton, Debra Dowden Crockett, Ella Hamilton, Esther Park, Johanna Typaldos, Karin Chan, Katie Buchanan, Noah Kiehne, Sarah Bouchard, Sydney Chong, and Xiaohan Wu.

Founded in June 2014, the Baltimore Jewelry Center is the successor organization to the MICA Jewelry Center, which served the metalsmithing and art jewelry community in the Baltimore area for twenty-two years. Today, the nonprofit provides a rigorous academic program and robust studio access program for metal and jewelry artists. “The Baltimore Jewelry Center features one of a handful of art jewelry galleries in the Mid-Atlantic. Our exhibition program exposes the larger public to contemporary and traditional metal arts, and acts as a platform to promote and sell the work of local artists and national artists in the metalsmithing field,” said Shane Prada, Executive Director. “We’re excited to be hosting our second annual Graduate Exhibition and thrilled to be able to display new work that is coming out of a range of educational programs. This exhibition offers an inspiring look into the future of jewelry and metalsmithing.”

COLAB: Art and Music from Baltimore and Beyond | Closing Reception
Saturday, August 16 :: 6-9pm
@ Eubie Blake Cultural Center

Welcome to the COLAB: Art and Music from Baltimore and Beyond! Join us at the Eubie Blake Cultural Center for a evening of creativity and culture. Immerse yourself in a blend of art and music from talented artists hailing from Baltimore and beyond. This in-person event is your chance to experience a diverse showcase of artistic expression. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to connect with the Baltimore art and music scene. See you there!

EXHIBITION CONCEPT:

This exhibition will showcase works on loan from important collections of African-American art and artists. The Visual Art Curator has selected pieces that span a wide range of styles, subjects and mediums, creating this digital catalog to facilitate collaboration in the curatorial process with invited musicians and producers of music in various musical genres.

Under the leadership of the Eubie Blake Cultural Center, and in collaboration with the Visual Art Curator and the Music Curator, music professionals and students of the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University will review the COLAB digital exhibition catalog. They will respond to the works of art by selecting tracks from any musical genre that resonates with specific pieces; not necessarily choosing music from their own genre. Musical collaborators will also provide brief written commentaries on their music and art pairings, which will be integrated into the exhibition’s content by the curators.

QR codes will link the selected works of art to an online playlist developed from the collaborators, offering a unique and diverse soundtrack for the exhibition. Additionally, narrated descriptions of the works, written by the Visual Art Curator, will be available for the visually impaired. Profiles on all the collaborators will also be a part of the exhibition content.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own Bluetooth listening devices or borrow our POLK AUDIO headphones to fully experience exhibition’s soundtrack and the works of art.

The intention of the exhibition is to foster a collaborative, interdisciplinary, art exhibition that engages the audience in the process of interpreting visual art through music.

While in residency, our artists have the freedom to fully focus on artistic research, exploration, and creation while also engaging with McColl Center’s Igniters community and the Charlotte-based creative sector. Re-discovering the connections that bring men closer to everything in nature, one perceives and elaborates an organic cohesion with the world that influences his own emotions, thoughts and visions of the world. Precisely through the visions of the natural world, the call for the exhibition “Wildness” intends to select works that can express a “romantic” approach to nature, as well as those works of the documentary, scientific -anthropological/ -botany/ -zoological kind that help us get in touch with it.
