Waystation Meditation with Jordan Tierney
Thursday, July 17 :: 5-7pm
@ Baltimore Museum of Art

Enter Waystation for Future Migrations, Late 21st Century Jones Falls Watershed, a sculptural rest stop imagined by artist Jordan Tierney as part of her speculative vision. Inspired by the wisdom of Octavia Butler and the ecology of the Jones Falls Watershed, this dome-shaped refuge offers a space for reflection, unburdening, and quiet transformation. This meditative experience honors slowness, presence, and imagination. Jordan Tierney will sit silently in the dome, holding space for up to two guests at a time.

This event will take place on Thursday, July 17 from 5-7 p.m. Each meditation lasts 7 minutes, with a short transition between participants. Afterwards, visitors are invited to reflect on their experience with a journal prompt.

This program is offered in conjunction with the 2025 Baker Artist Awards exhibition.

Accessibility notes: The dome has a narrow entrance and low lighting. Visitors will need to be able to sit or kneel on the floor for the duration of the 7-minute session. While awaiting entry to the dome standing may be required. Gallery stools will be provided.

Thursday, July 17 :: 7-10pm
@ Lord Baltimore Hotel

Art Soiree is a gathering of artists and friends to celebrate and advance the impact of Baltimore artists locally and on the world stage.

The Art Soiree brings you an immersive fashion show, live music, and so much more in an atmosphere designed to light you up—mind, body, and spirit.

Sip on cocktails, taste delectables, mix and mingle with Baltimore’s most dynamic creatives, and celebrate the spark that happens when art, style, and good vibes collide.

This next Art Soiree is being presented in partnership with the Baltimore Met Gala (BMG)—one of the region’s most dynamic celebrations of fashion, art, cuisine and community. As part of the evening’s experience, we’ll be unveiling the visual artists chosen for BMG’s Statement 2025 Exhibition.

Whether you’re a dedicated art lover or just looking for a unique night out, this is the kind of experience you’ll want to be part of.

Voyages: Chapter 7
Thursday, July 17 :: 7-11pm
@ The National Aquarium

At the intersection of art and science lies Voyages, an original immersive event series at the National Aquarium that inspires connection to nature and celebrates all things Baltimore. Join us for Voyages: Chapter 7 and explore Aquarium exhibits through immersive performance inspired by animal perception and sensory ecology from the minds of local collaborative artworks company Submersive Productions.

Inspired by months of research within the Aquarium and expertise provided by The Johnsen Lab of Sensory Biology at Duke University, Submersive Productions created “Submerged! In the Company of Fish.” This interactive theatrical experience invites guests to perform at their comfort level for the residents of the Aquarium and learn about animal perception. As you experience the Aquarium in a totally new way, this experience will inspire you to see the world from a new point of view. After exploring the exhibits, close out the night with your fellow voyagers at an Afrofuturistic after-party by Astronaut Symphony from Afro House.

Voyages: Chapter 7 promises to be a night of exploration that you won’t soon forget, featuring local food vendors Mera Kitchen Collective, Common Ground, Sistahs’ Sweets and Ekiben with a bar featuring Checkerspot Brewing Company and Baltimore Spirits Company.

This is where art and science meet. This is a one-of-a-kind celebration of all things Baltimore and the connection we share with the natural world. This is the Aquarium like you’ve never experienced it before. This is Voyages. Are you ready to embark on a journey into the deep?

COLAB ARTIST’S PANEL TALK
 “Seeing Identity: The Power of the Portrait”
Friday, July 18 :: 6-8pm
@Eubie Blake Cultural Center

Welcome to the COLAB: Art and Music from Baltimore and Beyond!

COLAB ARTIST’S PANEL TALK

“Seeing Identity: The Power of the Portrait”

Friday, July 18, 2025 | 6:00 – 8:00 PM

COLAB Guest Curator Hilary Pierce will moderate a panel of professional artists working in a range of mediums who use portraiture to express ideas and intentions beyond simply depicting a particular subject or sitter.

Through this lively discussion, we’ll explore themes of identity and why we are compelled to possess and portray images of people we may not even know. Our conversation will include COLAB artist and master pencil draughtsman Michael C. Gibson, visiting the Eubie Blake Cultural Center from Canada; celebrated COLAB artist Charly Palmer, who paints lush and captivating portraits and has illustrated numerous children’s books, including a recent project with John Legend; and Chicago-to-Baltimore artist Dr. Yemonja Smalls, whose background in social work and advocacy for women informs her insightful and empowering mixed-media portraits.

Join us for what promises to be an engaging talk on the incredible power of the portrait and why we are compelled to create, contemplate, and enjoy them.

Regular Gallery Hours: Wednesday through Saturday, 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Maxine Taylor: Passages
Saturday, July 19 :: 1:30-5pm
