Bmore Music Picks is a weekly feature that highlights shows, concerts or events to check out in Baltimore and the surrounding area. While it’s not a comprehensive events calendar, our picks are diverse and may highlight jazz, rock, folk, noise, punk, hip-hop, R&B, metal, experimental or just about any other sub-genre or style that helps make Baltimore’s music scene varied and vibrant.

For a more comprehensive events calendar, check out the Culture FlyShow Space, or Weekly.Citypaper.com.

Friday, February 27th – Wet Brain / Big Mouth / Curse / Hive Bent / Natural Velvet
5th Dimension, DIY show (unspecified) at 8:00 PM – $11 with 7″

I’m sure if you don’t know where 5th Dimension is, with some clever Facebooking you can figure it out. It’s a DIY space and it’s in a warehouse, I’ll give ya that. Wet Brain and Natural Velvet or two of my favorite punk rock bands in Bmore. Even in February, this show will get sweaty. All of these killer bands will be featuring on the Girl Problems Split 7″ that you get at the door for just a few more bucks. Support local music.

Saturday, February 28th – Sweepstakes / Blacksage / Joseph & The Beats
Church & Company 3647 Falls Rd. at 8:00 PM – FREE

Sweepstakes are fun surf-y pop music while Blacksage mix electro and R&B. Joseph & The Beats are new to me but I’m excited to see what they’re like. Church & Company is a new-ish venue in an old church on Falls Rd. in Hampden (above Hunting Ground).
