Land Grab presented by ICA Baltimore at Chicken Box
Land Grab is a series of interventions that examine battles over territory and social influence at the local and global level. Tourism, the service industry, and the American dream serve as the framing devices for works that mine—and undermine—constantly shifting dynamics of power.
Allison Yasukawa is a multidisciplinary visual artist and educator. She holds an MFA in Studio Arts and an MA in TESOL/Applied Linguistics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. In her studio practice, Allison explores themes of social encounter, the physical body, and the politics and performance of identity. Her work has been exhibited at spaces including Gallery 400, Chicago; NEXT Art Fair, Chicago; and University Galleries, Normal, IL. Allison lives in Baltimore and works at the Maryland Institute College of Art.

Lisa Dillin: Windows & Floors @ Jordan Faye Contemporary.
Jordan Faye Contemporary’s exhibition by Baltimore artist, Lisa Dillin consists of wall and floor sculptures. The Window Series indicates a philosophical search for nature ‘inside’ and ‘outside.”Outside’ symbolically equates to ‘the great outdoors’ i.e. ‘nature.’ Yet cityscapes contain very few examples of flaura + fauna and suburban landscape architecture, in its orderly manner, offering precious little variety, cannot be considered ‘the great outdoors,’ where then is this line between the Tamed & the Wild? Manmade & Natural?
