“Built Up” presents the work of three artists who each use the broad category of drawing to explore specific areas of interest including architectural systems, nature and pattern.
Becky Blosser’s drawings are created by systematically compiling, layering, and tracing found and created architectural constructions. These structures celebrate their impermanence and teeter between usable, functional constructions, and destroyed objects.
Harriet Hacker’s set of drawings poses an investigation into nature and how that nature is transformed by the human presence be it direct or indirect. Her work often takes the form of portraiture and features animals and furniture.
Andrea Biller Collins’ set of small drawings, created through repetitive mark making, explore patterns that are derived from natural structures such as ice crystals and those that are constructed, such as sewing diagrams.
