Allison Fomich creates sculpture that uses playful and energetic forms to remind us of the aging process. She finds her most expressive voice in the temporary inflatables she creates as a means of conveying her interests in the ephemeral and the impermanence of the body. She embraces a diverse list of materials in her sculpture, using latex, metal, plastics, wax, fiber, ceramics, also creating site specific installations.
Allison’s work possesses a pseudo-scientific botanical feel that relates to human experience, where the time spent working in her studio is similar to the time spent in her garden. The plants she watches grow directly influence her art making as she he finds herself exploring and absorbing the sequences of her plants.
