Loyola University Maryland’s Julio Fine Arts Gallery will feature “Wonderland,” an exhibit by Josh Gillen, an artist who works primarily in wood, from Friday, Jan. 15 – Sunday, Feb. 14.
Gillen, who lives just outside Baltimore and earned his MFA from Towson University, credits his childhood experiences as a carpenter’s assistant with his decision to concentrate his artwork in wood. When working in the medium, he prefers wood he has found or purchased as recycled construction material.
“I’m fascinated by the manner in which people have related and continue to relate to materials and objects in their daily lives,” he said.
The Julio Art Fine Arts Gallery, located in the DeChiaro College Center on Loyola’s North Charles Street campus, is open from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday – Friday and from 1 – 4 p.m. on Sundays.
