Grace Hartigan, a celebrated Abstract Expressionist painter, was director of the Hoffberger School of Painting at Maryland Institute College of Art from its inception in 1965 until her death. Long a key figure in Baltimore’s cultural scene, Ms. Hartigan bequeathed five exceptional paintings to Maryland Art Place (MAP) in 2009.
MAP honors Ms. Hartigan’s gift in a special 2010 exhibition at The Ritz Carlton Residences, Inner Harbor, Baltimore. Select events scheduled throughout the year celebrate Ms. Hartigan’s legacy as a painter and mentor for aspiring contemporary artists.
