MICA presents ArtWalk, a campus-wide preview party of the 2009 Commencement Exhibition, Thursday, May 14 from 5-8 p.m., with a tent reception continuing until 9 p.m. Members of the class of 2009 will be on hand in their exhibition areas during this signature event to meet visitors and discuss their work.
ArtWalkers will begin at the celebration tent on Cohen Plaza, where they will be given maps to stroll through the galleries, open spaces, hallways, and classrooms of six architecturally significant MICA buildings – including the new Gateway – which will be filled with students’ artwork. ArtWalk is the only chance for visitors to purchase drawings, paintings, sculptures, photographs, illustrations, fiber arts, graphic designs, and multimedia pieces featured in the Commencement Exhibition before it officially opens on May 15.
In between strolls and after ArtWalk ends, guests are invited to relax and enjoy casual dinner fare and have a glass of wine at the Finish Line Café, located inside the celebration tent on Cohen Plaza. Graduating artists will also be in the tent at 8 p.m. to celebrate with ArtWalk participants.
ArtWalk takes place from 5-8 p.m. The Finish Line Café will be open from 6:30-9 p.m. Tickets, which include food and two complementary drinks, are $25. Children 10 and younger are free.
