René Treviño’s Propaganda Series will be on exhibit at Fraser Gallery in Bethesda, MDThe Trawick Prize: Bethesda Contemporary Art Awards is the visual art prize produced by the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District. The annual juried art competition awards $14,000 in prize monies to four selected artists. The first place winner is awarded $10,000; second place is honored with $2,000 and third place is awarded $1,000. A “young” artist whose birth date is after April 20, 1979 can also be awarded a $1,000 prize.
Eight artists have been selected as finalists for the 2009 Trawick Prize Awards. Their selected work will be on exhibit at the Fraser Gallery September 2 – October 3, 2009.
René Treviño, Baltimore
René Treviño’s work has been highlighted group in exhibitions at The Baltimore Museum of Art, Current Gallery and C. Grimaldis Gallery in Baltimore, MD; and in solo shows at School 33 and Creative Alliance at The Patterson in Baltimore, MD and Fine Arts Work Center, Provincetown, MA. He was named Best Local Artist by the Baltimore City Paper and was a finalist for the Janet & Walter Sondheim Prize in 2006; and, in 2009 was awarded a Creative Baltimore Fund Artist Grant. Treviño holds a Master of Fine Arts from Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD.
